This is a sweet story. It promotes reading, being kind, finding a solution to problems. I did love the names of the fairies males were trees and females were flowers. At times the story was a bit too straight with no problems along the way. Janetta comes across very smart and agreeable and solves all the problems without difficulties it would have been nice to have some fairies solve problems as well.There were some formatting and editing problems in the book, which can easily be corrected.
The illustrations are beautiful and are placed like vignettes throughout the text. Great book to read to children who need to learn how to solve problems. Love the idea of having the last chapter missing rather then the whole book.

Cute story line about a girl who loves to read. I thought the author was writing about me. Janetta love to read to the exclusion of everything else. When the endings of her books start to disappear, a book fairy comes to ask for her help with Sir Grumpsalot, who is so unhappy he is erasing the last chapter in all the books. Janetta to the rescue. Nice moral to the story about being nice to others. Also I would love to write a book someday, so I do hope there really are book fairies and they will sprinkle their fairy dust on me to inspire me to be an author.
This was a fun story any bookworm would enjoy. It might even encourage children to read more books if they think they might meet a book fairy in the process. The illustrations were beautiful. For the most part, I thought the illustration placings looked nice on the page except for one page where it was hard to read some of the words. I thought the author did an excellent job of capturing the tone of the book’s audience. The language, for the most part, seemed very geared toward elementary school-aged children.
There were some things I saw that stopped me from rating the book higher. I read this book as an e-book and I saw about seven typos and some formatting issues, but hopefully those can be fixed. While most of the language seemed child-like, there was one or two instances where Janetta’s dialogue seemed very mature. Since she is a big bookworm, this didn’t bother me so much. She could have just learned from her books. In relation to books, I think that was my biggest issue with the story. It started off with a lot of book talk which I loved. Any bookworm could relate to wanting to be alone while reading. However, when Janetta goes to the fairy world, I feel like there wasn’t a lot to showcase that they were book fairies other than their titles and saying that a certain fairy hated books. If there were maybe more quotes from well-known books or authors that was intertwined in the fairy dialogue, that might have helped.
Other small things. I kept wondering why the antagonist’s real name was different than the other male fairies. I expected it to be similar since all of the female fairies had similar name types. Also, during the house description it was mentioned that there was a screened-in porch. That was a little difficult to imagine in a mushroom house. Some of the dialogue did seem unnecessary and repetitive. For example, the fact that the antagonist hated books was said maybe about 10 times.
Other than this, Janetta and Violetta were likable, relatable and fun characters. And once again, I loved the illustrations!
